What exactly am I customizing?
What exactly am I customizing?
One side of a 40mm solid brass marker is yours to design—upload a photo, pet, logo (with rights), or text. The other side features our Pin-Hi design with a bold alignment arrow, tiki mascot, and dimple texture.
How is the engraving done?
How is the engraving done?
We convert your image into a 3D depth map, then laser-engrave it into brass. This creates true tactile relief—not a flat 2D etch—so details pop and feel premium. Once the engraving is complete (which can take up to 2 hours), we complete a 4-part hand finish process. This hand finish includes a wire brush cleaning, application of Brass Black (for added depth and character), a sanding, and buffing. All so your new custom Pin-Hi Golf ball marker is absolutely immaculate.

Engraving Photo Guidelines
- The quality of your engraving starts with the quality of your image. Clear, high-contrast photos produce the sharpest, most 3D results.
What works best
- High resolution: Aim for at least 1500 px on the shortest side (bigger is better). No screenshots or zoomed-in crops.
- High contrast: Strong lights and darks translate into taller “ridges” and deeper “valleys,” creating crisp, tactile detail.
- Good lighting: Natural, even light beats harsh shadows or blown-out highlights.
- Simple backgrounds: Clean or blurred backgrounds keep the focus on the subject.
- Front-facing subjects: Faces and pets look best when centered and facing the camera.
- Sharp focus: No motion blur. Look for defined edges (eyes, whiskers, text outlines).
- Original files: Upload the original photo (not a social-media compressed version).
Great subjects by type
- Faces: Front-facing, well-lit portraits with visible features. Avoid heavy sunglasses or hats that cast shadows.
- Pets: Clear shots with visible eyes and fur texture. Avoid backlighting that silhouettes the pet.
- Logos/line art: Vector or high-res PNG with solid black shapes on a white background works best. Thin lines should be at least 2–3 px at the final size.
- Text/initials: Bold, sans-serif or slab fonts engrave cleaner than thin scripts. Keep wording short for legibility.
Avoid these
- Preferred formats: PNG, JPG, SVG (for line art/logos), PDF (vector logos).
- For photos: JPG or PNG at the highest quality available.
- For logos/line art: SVG or high-res PNG with transparent or white background.
- Avoid tiny JPGs with compression artifacts.
Composition tips
- Tight crop: Frame the subject so it fills most of the marker area (we can assist with cropping).
- Single subject: One primary subject engraves cleaner than multiple small faces.
- Edge safety: Leave a bit of padding around the subject to avoid cropping during circular placement.
Engraving reality check
- Ultra-fine details smaller than ~0.3 mm may soften in engraving.
- Very thin strokes can fill in—thicken lines where possible.
- We may adjust brightness/contrast and convert to a depth map for best results.
Quick rule of thumb
- High-quality photo = High-quality engraving.
- Higher contrast = Deeper relief and more tactile detail.

FAQ's
Will my photo engrave well?
Choose a clear, high-resolution image with good contrast. Faces and pets look great. If we see issues (too dark, low-res, busy background), we’ll reach out with recommendations before engraving.
What makes your markers different from other “custom” markers?
Most use flat 2D surface engraving. Ours are true 3D, tactile relief from a depth map, then hand finished (brass black, wire brushed, lightly sanded, buffed) for detail that pops and a premium patina.
Is the marker USGA legal?
Yes. Our markers are 40mm in diameter—the largest legal size under USGA rules.
How long does it take to make and ship my marker?
Production typically takes 3–5 business days. Shipping speed depends on the option you choose at checkout. You’ll receive tracking when it ships.
Can you engrave logos or brand marks?
Only if you own the rights or have written permission. We can’t engrave copyrighted, trademarked, or prohibited content without authorization. When in doubt, contact us before ordering.
How do I care for the brass finish?
Brass develops a natural patina over time. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use. Avoid harsh chemicals. If you prefer it brighter, buff gently with a microfiber cloth.
Do you offer design services?
We don't offer design services. If you need assistance in creating a design, you can explore AI image tools such as ChatGPT, Google's Nano, xAI's Grok, or Midjourney. For human support, Fiverr has a wide range of skilled professionals.
